St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN)—A cargo plane carrying packages for FedEx had an accident at the Vance Amory International Airport in Nevis on June 18, 2024.

The accident did not result in any deaths, but there were two individuals in the aircraft.

During his monthly press conference on June 19, 2024, the Premier of Nevis, Hon. Mark Brantley, provided details on the incident.

“We had an accident at the Vance Amory International Airport. Shortly after 2.20, about in the afternoon, we would have had a plane, a cargo plane, landing… Air Cargo Carrier, registration N3732X, transporting cargo for FedEx. And upon landing, it appears that the landing gear was damaged, and it caused the tyre to collapse and break apart. The aircraft contained 99 pounds of cargo, two hours worth of fuel, and there were two souls on board, Mr. Carlos Ortiz, the co-pilot, and Captain Augusto Rosas.”

Outside of the initial damage to the aircraft, Brantley said there was no further damage following the response from emergency personnel.

“We would have responded with our fire units and our fire equipment, and I am pleased to announce that all went well. There was no damage to anyone. There was no further damage to the aircraft. The aircraft was stabilised and was towed off the active runway using fire appliance G533, driven by Fire Officer Dore. About a quarter gallon of foam and water were used to wash the oil off the active runway. The units returned to base, and all was quiet. So, thankfully, that ended without any tragedy.” – Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley during his monthly press conference on June 19, 2024.
