St. Kitts and Nevis (Sports Page) – The Sports Department on Nevis, is currently running a Tennis Camp for primary school students and some secondary school students.
The camp is taking place at the newly renovated Tennis court, situated at Stoney Grove next to the Charlestown Secondary School.
Local coach, Anthony Webbe, is the lead coach and he indicated that the camp commenced with 23 children, but that the numbers have increased since then.
The camp commenced on Monday 8th August and will conclude on Friday 19th August.
Webbe further indicated that he has seen some potential in the players and plans to ensure that the best players are selected for further training and development after the camp is completed.
He stated: ‘Who knows, we may well see the next Serena Williams coming out of this crop!’
Coach at the Sports Department, Kerisha Powell noted that the other coaches assisting with the program, are Kimbel Ward, Mark Manners and Davronique Maynard.
She thanked the parents for allowing their children to participate in the camp and urged them to continue to encourage them in their endeavours to master the game.
