St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The NGO Coalition of the SKN Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Evangelical Association and Christian Council expressed about the unexplained delay by the Supervisor of Elections in announcing the results of yesterday’s election (June 5) in Constituency #8.
The Coalition issued a press statement minutes after 6 pm Saturday (June 6).
“This delay is causing justifiable consternation yet again at the operation of our electoral system,” it added.
” We have not forgotten the unexplained delay in our 2015 elections which caused unnecessary uncertainty. We understand and appreciate the pressures and demand placed on the Supervisor at this time however we must respect our country’s democracy and notify the public immediately as to the reason for this extended delay and that he take all the necessary action to declare a final count promptly, ” the NGO Coalition declared Saturday evening.
