St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Talks are still ongoing between the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) and the developers for the One and Only Resort according to Premier and Minister of Tourism the Hon. Mark Brantley.
WINN FM, on Thursday (Feb. 24), inquired about the status of the negotiations that began in January 2021.
“I don’t have an update, regrettably, to give you because those discussions are ongoing. Let me just be clear that the discussions are not with the One and Only, the discussions are with the developer. The One and Only is only a brand that the developer says he would like to get to manage…”
According to Premier Brantley at his January 27, 2022 Press Conference, Legal Advisor to the NIA Mrs. Helene Lewis was tasked with leading further discussions with the developers as the December 31, 2021 deadline for the start of construction was not met.
In early January 2021, Brantley signed a deal on behalf of the NIA for the start of construction of the luxury One&Only Resort which has properties in South Africa, Malaysia, Dubai, Rwanda, Mexico, and Mauritius.
