St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Some of the expansion work at the Alexandra Hospital has been suspended so says Premier and Senior Minister of Health, the Hon. Mark Brantley.
Brantley was at the time speaking at his June 29 press conference when he provided that update to members of the press.
“We’ve suspended the hard construction because basically the external construction is complete. It is now only for the interior to be done. So what we are going to do, with the help of these consultants, is get the interior configured in the best way for the purposes of that hospital and then we will resume with the actual construction on the inside of the building to take it to completion.”
The Premier said the NIA is looking forward to the project moving forward and has already begun to source equipment as it prepares for the resumption of the internal construction.
The $19 million project, which will see a new wing of more than 60,000 square feet added to the existing building, will include a physiotherapy wing, paediatric isolation wing, laboratory wing, operating theatre and radiology wing.
