WINN FM spoke to Miss Renee Wilkinson- Chairperson of the Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant on Monday, July, 10 2023.
In reply to the question, “What improvements or changes to the show can patrons expect to see in 2023?” Wilkinson said, “There’s a saying, if something isn’t broken, don’t fix it. We’ve had quite some time to prepare and though there aren’t any changes, I think the production will be top notch as with previous years. One thing we have added is a “Getting to Know You” type interview that we will be posting to our social media page. This gives the public an opportunity to see the contestants, engage and showcase their personalities before hitting the stage. I’ve seen the interviews and I can’t wait to share them!”
One challenge that the Committee foresees is incoming flights to the Federation, said Wilkinson, sharing that there is “an increase in the prices this year and regional flights are limited.”
The Committee over the years usually organise several exciting initiatives ahead of the pageant to welcome its delegates. Wilkinson disclosed, “The contestants will be attending the Sunday Service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church as they’ve done in the past. The Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Mark Brantley has graciously agreed to host a cocktail for the contestants and the contestants will be making an appearance at the Miss Culture Queen Pageant.”
The Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant was not hosted in the years 2020, 2021 and 2022, due to COVID-19 Pandemic restrictions. However, it returns in 2023 with its 15th anniversary celebration.
