Nineteen received honour of a lifetime during Investiture Ceremony at Government House

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Nineteen awardees on Tuesday morning, June 20, 2023 were presented medals by Her Excellency the Governor General of St.Kitts and Nevis Dame Marcella Liburd, during an Investiture Ceremony at Government House.

Sixteen individuals were endowed with the Companion of the Star of Merit. In the area of Education, Culture and Sports, Mrs. Eileen Grey, Dennis Leroy Richards Delaney-Education, Arts and Culture. Ms. Lorraine Browne -Education, Dr.Lincoln Leroy Carty- Education, Captain Junior Sylvester Granville Charles- Music, Sports and Volunteerism, Mrs. Violet A Jones- Mawnlawde- Education, Maxwell Peter Llewellyn Bass Snr.- Music and Security Services, Mr. Nathan Nathaniel Esdaille, Education and Religion, Wayland Henry Vaughan-Education, Mrs. Shirley Joyce Kelly- Nursing, Ms. Lorna Ava Henry Culture and Arts, Mr. Lincoln Daryl Connor- Nation Building and Youth Development, Ms. Elsie Eudora Mills Education and Mr. Clement ‘Juni’ Liburd Broadcasting.

Honoured posthumously for the Companion of the Star of Merit were Mr. Lloyd Lazar – Education and Sports and Mr.Kenrick Georges- Music

Three individuals received the Medal of Honour were Ms. Mabel Elvina Morton in the area of Community and Entrepreneurship, Mr. Clyde Richardson- Music and The Arts and Mr. James ‘Mickey’ Frederick- Performing Arts and Culture.

The names of the honorees were initially disclosed to the public in an address by the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew for the observance of National Heroes’ Day, Friday, September 16 2022.

Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew recognised the families of Mr. Georges and Mr. Lazar and reflected upon the significant contributions they made to the country. He likewise extended appreciation to the other awardees.

“As I looked across at all the awardees and honourees today, I can clearly say that each of you would have had an impact on my life; and I can only imagine the lives you would have touched in St. Kitts and Nevis. I can almost give a story about each of you; and that says a lot. It means you have contributed and you have contributed significantly” said Dr. Drew.
