St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The St. Kitts – Nevis Fire and Rescue Services commented on an incident relating to a black Nissan Teana, which burst into flames on Wednesday morning, February 15, 2023.

During the 4th edition of “Fireproof” on Friday morning, February 17, 2023, Fire Sub Station Officer II, Mr Rommel Williams, confirmed that the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services responded to the report.

Williams said the cause of the fire is unknown but mentioned that the vehicle owner encountered some challenges with the vehicle prior to the fire.

“It really resulted from a malfunction somewhere. The young lady said she was driving normally, and she realised that the vehicle was really sluggish. She thought it might have wanted fuel, so she went to the gas station to get some fuel. After leaving the gas station, she realised it was still moving really sluggish, so she went back to Shadwell by a welding shop, by a guy who had done some welding on the exhaust. When she exited the vehicle, the vehicle just burst into flames.”

There were extensive damages to the engine, front wheels and windscreen of the vehicle.

Since the beginning of the year, the St. Kitts – Nevis Fire and Rescue Services have responded to 3 vehicle fires in the Federation. The first vehicle fire occurred at Brimstone Hill on January 03, followed by the second at St. Pauls on January 18.
