St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): St. Kitts and Nevis remains at 19 confirmed cases, 19 recoveries, but officials are at pains to point out that new cases of COVID-19 are anticipated.

The COVID-19 surges in tourism source markets is a factor, the reopening of the borders to boost economic activity, another, and then, of course, there are cases of people who do not show any signs of the coronavirus when tested.

Officials here have strengthened protocols while closing borders since April 2020 but a recent case in Antigua and Barbuda offers a cautionary tale about COVID-19.

Chairman of the NEOC Abdias Samuel spoke of the death of a Venezuelan engineer Eduardo de la Plaza, who was working at the Antigua Power Company.

Mr. La Plaza reportedly suffered a heart attack some 22 hours after being admitted to hospital with the coronavirus, Antiguan officials reported.
