St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): At a press conference on Monday (Oct. 18) by the People’s Action Movement (PAM), Leader Shawn Richards declared that the party is “willing and able to contest an election on its own, if absolutely necessary.”.

“We are strengthening the People’s Action Movement…and we are aware of all of the political realities. Being aware of all of the political realities also means being willing and able to contest an election on its own, if absolutely necessary.”.

PAM forms part of the three-party coalition government called “Team Unity” of which Richards is the Deputy Prime Minister.

The PAM Leader said “if any one of the other parties desires to contest the next election on its own, of course, that is the choice of that particular political entity,” but reiterated that it is also an option for the People’s Action Movement.

Richards’ comment comes on the heels of claims that the People’s Labour Party (PLP) led by Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris is seeking to contest more seats in the next general election.

The other political party in the “Team Unity” coalition is the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) led by Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley.
