St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): There has been a rebound in the Tourism Sector said Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, during his Press Conference on Thursday, January 9. He said this evidence can be seen at the Port Zante Cruise Port in Basseterre.

Harris said, though the cruise Industry is not back to the pre-pandemic level, the 2021-2022 Tourist Season is off to an encouraging start.

“I’m advised that we have had 158 cruise calls so far with 138 022 cruise passengers. This compares well to the prior season 2020- 2021 when for nine months October 2020 to June 2021 there were zero cruise calls and consequently zero passengers. Given the COVID 19 situation, the Cruise ships are not sailing at their usual maximum capacity as a precautionary health response.”

As it relates to arrivals for January 2022, Prime Minister Harris said 6,683 passengers arrived in the Federation which is up to 5,324 over 1,350 passengers recorded in January 2021.
