St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Lashley Orlando Weekes Jr, the 15-year-old student from Saddler’s Village who died in a tragic vehicle accident on May 19, died from craniocervical trauma (cervical spine injuries affecting the skull base, atlas, and the axis) due to a motor vehicle accident according to the autopsy report issued by the police.
The autopsy was conducted on May 24 by Resident Pathologist Dr Adrian Nuñez.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of the Halfway Tree Methodist Church on the Island’s Main Road at 8:15 p.m when a truck, PA-2893, owned and driven by Morgan Wyatt of The Alley, Sandy Point, ran off the island’s main road and collided with a house owned by Desmond Morton, located on the seaside of the road.
At the time of the accident, Wyatt was travelling towards Sandy Point with three passengers, Lashley Weekes, Tijay Matthew, and ‘Stachie’ of Saddlers. The driver overtook two parked vehicles and rapidly swerved back to the seaside lane to avoid oncoming traffic. His truck veered off the road and collided with Morton’s house.
Matthew and ‘Stachie’, passengers in the truck’s bed, were seemingly flung from the vehicle on impact.
Fire Services from Basseterre and Sandy Point were on the scene and removed the body of Weekes from the truck with the jaws of life.
Weekes was pronounced dead at the scene.
