St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Tyrique Jones a 26-year-old police officer, of Wades Garden, has been charged for the illegal possession of a Firearm and Ammunition.

“I am not afraid to say it’s a police officer who is presently on suspension. We have referred the matter to the director of public prosecution to look at the evidence that we gathered and to advise us if there is enough evidence to refer any further charges,” said Commissioner of Police Hilroy Brandy.

The charges are concerning a previous report where 29-year-old Sylaine Phipps of Boyds Village was charged for the same offences after a Beretta PX4 Storm Pistol, and several rounds of .9mm ammunition were found in her possession during a security check at the entrance of Dubai Nightclub & Lounge, a nightspot in Basseterre on October 22, 2021.

Jones was charged on October 28, 2021, and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.
