St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN) – According to a statement from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, during a patrol in the McKnight area on April 20, 2023, where they carried out a routine search of an abandoned house, illegal firearms were found.
At the premises, law enforcement found “a stash of illegal weapons”, which included one Glock 30 pistol with two rounds of .45 calibre ammunition; one Thunder 380 with three .380 rounds of ammunition; one Ruger 9mm with two 9mm rounds of ammunition; and one Smith and Wesson .38 revolver pistol.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
In the police statement, the Police reminded the general public that possession and concealment of unlicensed firearms and ammunition carry severe penalties, and law enforcement has adopted a “no leniency” stance to anyone caught with illegal weaponry on their person, on their property, or in their general possession.
So far, Police have shared with the media the seizure of 12 illegal firearms for 2023. In 2022, 17 illegal weapons were seized by the authorities.
