St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The developer of the One&Only Resort will be meeting with the Premier and Minister of Tourism in the Nevis Island Administration, the Hon. Mark Brantley this week to discuss plans for the construction of the luxury resort.
Brantley gave that information in response to a question by WINN at his June 29 press conference in his Cabinet Room at Pinney’s Estate.
“I am scheduled to have a video conference with the developers this week to get an update as to where we are,” said Brantley who stopped short of providing a specific date for when the meeting will be held.
“We made an announcement when we signed some agreements with the developer and that it required the developer to have certain dates that they had to meet. We’re now going to have a meeting with them to determine where they are in relation to those dates to secure the financing and of course to commence construction,” the Premier continued.
In early January 2021, Brantley signed a deal for the start of construction of the luxury One&Only Resort in Nevis. After lengthy negotiations, Brantley said the country could look forward to the start of construction this year. One&Only Luxury Resort Chain has properties all over the world including South Africa, Malaysia, Dubai, Rwanda, Mexico, and Mauritius.
In December 2018, an agreement was signed between the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) and Northern Pointe Development Ltd paving the way for the construction of a proposed Wyndham Grand resort at Long Haul Bay on Nevis which to date has not come to fruition.
Brantley while serving as Deputy Premier and Minister of Tourism entered into agreements for the following projects: Aman Resort (2013); Oasis Hotel; and Candy Resort Villa Development (April 2015) among others, however, these projects are yet to be completed.
