St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley disclosed that a number of training and scholarship opportunities are available for individuals who are desirous of going abroad to study.

During his monthly Press Conference on Thursday, January 27, Brantley urged young people to seize opportunities for training when they become available; especially when they are free.

“So if you are out there and you are thinking about going off to study, you are perhaps concerned about how your parents are going to afford it; parents you’re concerned about how your youngster is going to get that opportunity to go on to get tertiary education, which is now necessary in order to move forward in today’s world, these are opportunities that are currently available and I encourage you to look into these opportunities; not to sit back and say you didn’t know, not to sit back and say you couldn’t be bothered, but to look into these opportunities; and wherever you can get something as important as an education for free, my advice is to grab it.”

Premier Brantley said, “too many young people are not seizing the opportunities, and as a result, these opportunities are going a begging.”

Brantley however, shared the details of the scholarship opportunities available.

“We’re inviting applications now for graduates of the Nevis Sixth Form College to apply for scholarships at The University of The Virgin Islands. The deadline is March 31st 2022; so you have some time for you to apply. Scholarships are available at The University of The Virgin Islands. We’re also inviting applications for persons who are interested in the Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral Degrees to study in Azerbaijan and those scholarships are available for persons who are fully vaccinated; that’s a requirement from Azerbaijan. The deadline is the 4th of March 2022. We’re also seeking applications for scholarships to study in Taiwan, both ICDF and MOFA. The deadline for the MOFA Scholarships is the 17th of February and for the ICDF Scholarships, is the 8th of March.”

In addition, persons interested in Veterinary Medicine, are encouraged to apply for the Ross University Scholarship. An invitation is also extended to persons to apply for the University of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Windsor University of Medicine Scholarships which are tenable on St.Kitts.

Premier Brantley thereafter shared that the Nevis Island Administration is accepting applications for financial assistance. However, he made it clear that Law, Medicine and Business studies do not form part of the NIA’s priority list. The deadline for applications for financial assistance is March 31st, 2022.

Brantley therefore reiterated his call for young people to take advantage of the scholarships opportunities available, as well as the financial assistance being offered by the Nevis Island Administration.
