St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis and Parliamentary Representative for St.Christopher 8, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew confirmed on Tuesday afternoon October 4 that the water issue in St. Peter’s has been resolved.
Dr. Drew noted “The water issue in St. Peters has been rectified. As of this morning, 80% of the community would have received water, but due to an air blockage (air in the pipes) preventing the flow of water, it will take time to fully reach all the homes.”
Drew added, “I want to reassure the entire community of St. Peters that the Water Department under the leadership of the Permanent Secretary Mr. Darryl Lloyd and the Water Engineer, Cromwell Williams have been working vigorously over the past four (4) days to resolve the issue.”
The area of St.Peters had been experiencing water challenges since Saturday October 01 due to a mechanical failure of the pump that supplies water to the area. The St.Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services was tasked with supplying households with water whilst the St.Kitts Water Services Department rectified the issue.
Prime Minister Drew expressed appreciation to the crew at the Water Service Department for their commitment in ensuring that the water situation comes to a resolution.
“I am grateful to the team at the Water Department for the excellent work they have been doing. They have been working assiduously since Saturday repairing the pump and now the matter has been resolved. We are committed to resolving the water situation not just in St. Peters but throughout the whole of St. Kitts and Nevis. We will continue to monitor the situation closely.”
