Barbados – The Barbadian Government is redoubling efforts to keep coronavirus cases under control by amending the COVID-19 directives.
Speaking from Ilaro Court on Friday night, Prime Minister Mia Mottley declared that the 12 am to 5 pm curfew will be changed. The new curfew, 9 pm to 5 am, will be in effect from January 2 to January 9. The directive may be extended if necessary.
Mottley indicated that the amended curfew will allow persons to continue their daily routines while ensuring that the number of persons “moving about” was significantly reduced.
This adjustment comes after [the] Government revealed that a bus crawl held on Boxing Day led to 45 new COVID-19 cases.
In response to the superspreader, Prime Minister Mottley barred all social gatherings. She withdrew her decision to permit social gatherings of 50 people and announced that there will be “no banquets, social gatherings, fetes, limes of any number whatsoever”.
