Prime Minister Terrance Drew hospitalised following medical emergency; to be flown abroad for specialised care

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN)—Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Dr Terrance Drew, has been hospitalised following a medical emergency but is awake, alert, and in stable condition.

According to an official statement issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, Dr Drew admitted himself to the Joseph N France General Hospital on the evening of Sunday, August 30, 2026, for clinical evaluation and observation.

The statement said that the Prime Minister is awake, alert, and stable after receiving approximately 18 hours of continuous care from local doctors and specialists.

As a strict precautionary measure, his medical team has recommended that he be transported abroad for specialised observation and monitoring.

Transport arrangements are currently being finalised.

The public has been explicitly assured that the business of government continues seamlessly and without interruption.

A formal, follow-up official update regarding the Prime Minister’s health condition is expected later today, Monday, August 31, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.

The Cabinet and Government of St. Kitts and Nevis have asked the public to keep Prime Minister Drew in their thoughts and prayers for a swift and full recovery.
