St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Public schools on Nevis will reopen on Monday, September 13, 2021, says Junior Minister of Education for Nevis, Troy Liburd.
In a televised address on Thursday night, the education minister said “the decision has been taken for all public schools on Nevis to open on Monday…and opening will be in accordance [with] the various protocols that have been developed for each school and communicated with parents.”
Public schools on the island were expected to open Monday, September 06 but delayed due to senior education officials, principals, and teachers being exposed to COVID-19.
“We have taken the decision to implement an alternate day schedule across the system for the first two weeks in the first instance,” the Education Minister said, adding that “this is to decrease the numbers in the schools with the aim of protecting both students and staff and by extension, decrease the potential spread of the virus.”
The education minister also used the opportunity to encourage parents to cooperate and to continue to partner with schools to ensure that the teaching and learning process remains safe.
