St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Queen’s Baton Relay is underway and the Baton is expected to arrive in St Kitts on May 6, 2022.
Mr. Lester Hanley, Member of the St Kitts and Nevis Commonwealth Games Association told WINN FM on Wednesday afternoon (April 27) that the Baton will officially be received by His Excellency, the Governor-General, Sir S.W Tapley Seaton on the morning of Saturday, May 7, followed by a tour of St Kitts.
Then on Saturday, May 7, a reception hosted by the Commonwealth Games Association will take place at Government House. According to Hanley, the Baton will travel to Nevis on Sunday, May 8 for a similar tour and will return to St. Kitts thereafter. The Baton is expected to depart St Kitts on Monday, May 9th en route to Anguilla.
The Baton is currently in Montserrat and is scheduled to arrive in Dominica on April 29, to be followed by the British Virgin Islands on May 3, where it will remain until its departure to St. Kitts on May 6.
The Queen’s Baton carries a message from the Head of the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth II, which will be read at the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on July 28, 2022.
The Queen’s Baton Relay was launched from Buckingham Palace on October 7, travelling on a 269-day-long journey; approximately 90, 000 miles through all 72 Commonwealth nations and territories.
