St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Following the Friday, 10 July, fire at the Royal Bank of Canada Fort Street location, the financial institution remains closed, as officials continue to count the losses there.
On Friday, a fire broke out in the back section of the bank and was quickly taken under control by firemen.
In a statement on the incident, the bank said it’s thankful the branch was already closed for the day and no injuries were reported.
RBC wishes to thank the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Service for their quick response and swift action. Thanks to their efforts the fire was quickly contained and further damage was prevented.
With its main location being down, the bank is urging its customers to be more digital and use its RBC’s digital, mobile, and ATM offerings for most day-to-day banking transactions.
Meanwhile, those seeking to do in-branch transactions are asked to visit the nearby branch on Wellington Road, while the night deposit service is being directed to the same location.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, as suspicions are being raised that it may be reportedly connected to the electrical outage the same evening.
