St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Lake Health and Wellness in St. Kitts is set to benefit from the Corporate Social Responsibility programme from regional insurance company Sagicor.
Lake Health and Wellness is a non-governmental Organisation that is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of people through education, research, campaigns, health-related events and public health services.
Under the ‘Helping Hands’ project, Sagicor will lend tangible and intangible support to Lake Health and Wellness- St. Kitts, the Deaf Heart Project- Barbados and Servol Limited – Trinidad and Tobago to support their respective projects. Sagicor will be working with the NGO’s until the end of the year and will invest US 30,000 combined.
Sagicor invited non-governmental organisations to be a part of the programme. Two hundred fifty submissions were made. They were required to submit and outline the charity or cause, their target audience, upcoming and previous programmes and the needs of the organisation. The criteria included alignment with Sagicor’s CSR pillars, health, education, community and youth development and sports.
Currently, Lake Health and Wellness is bringing awareness to the public in observance of Global Week for Action on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
The organisation said, “The human toll of NCDs is unacceptable, inequitable, and increasing. Governments must INVEST to protect people, health systems and economies and governments must develop and implement effective, evidence-based public health policies.”
Another upcoming event is being held by Lake Health and Wellness in commemoration of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Awareness Month. The organisation will be hosting a virtual webinar entitled “PCOS & Nutrition: Living Beyond a Diet” on September 11, 2022.
