(St. Lucia TImes ) – The top-placed Saint Lucia Kings faced the bottom-placed Barbados Royals at the Kensington Oval on September 7th. The defending champion Kings suffered their first loss in five games, falling by 27 runs at The Mecca.
The Kings elected to bowl first after winning the toss, fielding an unchanged lineup. Having restricted the scoring for most of the first 15 overs, the boys in blue were confident of a manageable chase. However, Royals captain Rovman Powell (41 not out) and Chris Green (25) had other ideas.
The two all-rounders lifted the hosts to a remarkable 191 runs after their 20 overs, putting on a blistering 71-run, sixth-wicket partnership off just 29 balls. Tabraiz Shamsi once again starred with the ball for the Kings, taking three wickets for just 26 runs.
