St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Adam Stewart, Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts International, describes the newly opened Sandals Beach Resort St. Vincent and The Grenadines as a beacon of Caribbean excellence.

Sandals Resorts International’s 18th all-inclusive development is located at Buccament Bay, St. Vincent and The Grenadines. It boasts 301 rooms and suites, four 300-foot linear pools, 11 dining options, and the brand’s inaugural two-story overwater villas.

A soft opening of the luxury brand hotel on March 27, 2024, was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, inclusive of musical entertainment by Cultural Ambassadors, Darron Andrews and Rodney Small. Governor General of St. Vincent and The Grenadines Dame Susan Dougan, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, Minister of Tourism Carlos James, and opposition Leader Godwin Friday participated in the official ribbon cutting and tour of the resort.

The $200 million investment saw benefits for the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with over 300 skilled workers employed during the construction phase and up to 1,000 employment opportunities available during its operations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Adam Stewart expressed that the Sandals Resort brand is committed to expanding the tourism product of St. Vincent and The Grenadines and marketing the country as a top tourism destination.

Stewart stated, “Our team will drive demand in the marketplace.” He added, “
“You will see your magnificent island on the biggest networks on national television and across the internet.”

Mr. Stewart anticipates a boost in airlift to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with additional flights from American Airlines and Air Canada, continued momentum from Virgin Atlantic, as well as inaugural services from United Airlines and JetBlue.

Meanwhile, Sandals Beach Resort SVG welcomed its first 75 guests on opening day, including its first patrons, Gaouette and Anjanie Roberts, a Trinidadian couple.

Stewart also disclosed that a group of more than 300 travel advisors will be accommodated at the new resort in May, many of whom will be experiencing the true Vincentian spirit and culture for the first time.

“These are the best of the best. These are the people [who] sell everyone around us, but most of them have never had the great opportunity to experience the love and the magic of what takes place in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.”

He added, “We’re going to blow them away. We’re going to blow them away with the culture; we’re gonna blow them away with the design of what we’ve created here, and we are going to take them right down into the Grenadines and show them Mayreau, Canouan, Union Island; each and every one them, so that they go back and start telling their customers that there is a gem, a gem in the Caribbean.”

Prime Minister Gonsalves described Sandals Resorts International as a ‘hospitality titan’ and “an existential part of Caribbean civilisation.” In so doing, Gonsalves paid tribute to the founder of the brand, Gordon Butch Stewart, for his vision and legacy.

St. Vincent and The Grenadines, the ninth destination for Sandals’ development, shows the brand’s continued investment in the region, which employs thousands of people and generates millions of dollars in foreign exchange.
