St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Seabourn Venture, an ultra-luxury and modernised cruise vessel made its inaugural voyage to St.Kitts on Monday, October 10, 2022.
Passengers disembarked at South Friars Bay to begin an exploration of Sugar City which also marked the first inaugural call of the new Tourist Season under a new Government.
To welcome the luxury ship, the St.Kitts Tourism Authority organised the Inaugural Cost of the Seabourne Venture Plaque Exchange Ceremony. In attendance was the Prime Minister of the Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew. In giving remarks, he said, St.Kitts is extremely pleased with the partnership with Seabourn Cruise Line as well as the integral role that the cruise industry plays in the economic development of the country.
Prime Minister Drew stated, “The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is grateful for this call and all future calls of Seabourn and its parent company, Carnival Corporation. The cruise sector has tremendous economic value and has over the years sustained the livelihood of many of our nationals and residents. Our vendors, employees of attraction sites, taxi and tour bus operators depend on this fragile yet resilient sector to provide for their families. The importance of your visit cannot be overstated.”
Also speaking at the Plaque Exchange Ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of the St.Kitts Tourism Authority, Mr. Ellison “Tommy” Thompson said that the return of cruise ships follows the launch of the new brand campaign launch for St. Kitts, ‘Venture Deeper’. He said the aim of the local tourism industry is to ensure that visitors have a memorable experience.
As the tourism industry rebounds post COVID, it is anticipated that the 2022-2023 cruise season will be productive with the return of major cruise lines and maiden cruise calls.
