St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Still not confirmed as to when the new seven traffic lights will become operational.

That is according to the Chief Engineer at the Public Works Department Livingston Pemberton.

If you have not been paying attention there are seven new traffic lights installed throughout Basseterre:

Junction of Wellington Road and Dickenson Street at the Gas station

Upper College Street Ghaut and Cayon Street

Lower College street Ghaut and the Bay Road

Port Zante West (RAMS Supermarket/Courts)

Port Zante East (Sands Complex)

Sandown Road and Bay Road

Bird Rock and Bay Road Intersections

Currently, there is work at the Bird Rock and Bay Road intersection to introduce slip lanes for ease of traffic when the lights are commissioned. Previously the work was expected to be completed on by the end of May 2021; however, Pemberton indicated that there were some challenges, specifically in the relocations of surrounding Utility Polls

Pemberton said he could not provide a date for the completion of the civil works at this time.

After the work is done at Bird Rock, the traffic light specialist from Synergy Engineering Limited out of Jamaica will return to the federation to finish the necessary infrastructural work, following which a report will be presented to the Cabinet who will then decide on the date for commissioning of the traffic lights.
