St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Federal Minister of Agriculture, Mr Samal Duggins said that he is proud of the progress made on the Poultry Hatchery Facility and is looking forward to its completion.
According to Duggins, the main structure of the hatchery facility has been completed, a state-of-the-art incubation and hatchery equipment has been installed and electrical and water systems are being finalised. It is anticipated that upon completion of the project, it will mark a transformative milestone for the Federation’s poultry sector.
The Minister of Agriculture is optimistic that more opportunities will become available within the Layer Chicken Industry, highlighting that “The new hatchery will bridge the existing gap in our egg production process, enabling us to become 100% efficient. Farmers producing eggs will now have a reliable source of day-old birds, bolstering our local egg production capabilities.”
The St. Kitts and Nevis Layer Chicken Industry Sustainable Development Project in partnership between the St. Kitts and Nevis Government and the Taiwanese government. The signing Ceremony was held at the St. Kitts Mariott Resort in June 2023.
St. Kitts and Nevis Layer Chicken Industry Sustainable Development Project aims to enhance the agricultural sector, reduce the food import bill and ensure food security for St. Kitts and Nevis.
