St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a serious traffic accident on Wednesday night, September 18, 2025, in the vicinity of the old Treasury Building on the Bay Road, St. Kitts.
The incident, which occurred around 8:20 p.m., drew a response from firefighters, police, and emergency medical personnel, who worked together to save the victim, Miss T’anna Buchanan.
The vehicle, a motor car P 7232, sustained significant damage, leaving her pinned inside. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to cut through the wreckage and extricate her. The process took several minutes as firefighters, some off duty, worked with precision to prevent further injury.
The Emergency Services Technicians (EMTs) began administering medical care to the victim whilst the firefighters worked to extricate her. They were supported by off-duty nurses who were participating in an autism awareness walk nearby.
Once freed, Buchanan was placed on a stretcher and transported by ambulance to the Joseph N France General Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. She was warded in stable condition.
The front of the vehicle was badly damaged, with some bystanders describing the wreckage as “so bad that the engine was on the ground.”
As news of the accident surfaced, a crowd slowly began to build, and police officers tried to keep curious bystanders from getting too close to the scene. Among them was a visibly distressed man who was seen rushing toward the vehicle, his face filled with deep concern and possibly connected to the victim.
The area was also blocked, so traffic had to be diverted.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
