Basseterre, St. Kitts (WINN) – The St. Kitts Electricity Company (SKELEC) says a blown switchgear was the cause of an island-wide power outage Wednesday morning (Jan. 13).
Full power was restored to customers by1:00 p.m., two and a half hours after repair work began.
” The company’s technical team immediately assessed the damage then shortly after began repair work. Restoration of power began at 10:30 am when electricity was restored to the Power Station. At 10:35 am the first feeder, SSMC, was placed online, power was restored to all feeders by 11:05 am. Electricity supply was returned to all customers by 1:00 pm, ” SKELEC said in a statement Thursday afternoon.
The company apologized for the inconvenience and thanked the public for its understanding and support.
