St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The St. Kitts Electricity Company Limited (SKELEC) says power is expected to be restored islandwide today (Friday, November 13).
The announcement at close to 10 am today is welcome news to residents who were without electricity for close to 24 hours.
A fire at the Needsmust Power Station at close to 7:30 am Thursday (Nov. 12) sparked an island-wide power outage on St. Kitts. At about 9:00 am today, power was restored to more than 40% of the island.
Ms. Patrice Harris, Corporate Communications Manager at SKELEC, provided updates Thursday and Friday on the progress being made to restore electricity offered this update Friday morning.
Police Commissioner Hilroy Brandy Thursday night offered assurances that the security forces would ensure law and order during the blackout.
