St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Federal Cabinet of St. Kitts and Nevis has approved concessions on supplies for the upcoming school term which begins on September 04 2023.
Taxes on imported school supplies will be waived from Monday, July 10 until Saturday, September 30 2023, a decision aimed at easing the financial burden of households, moreso, single parent households with school-aged children.
All commercial and non-commercial entities would be able to benefit from the initiative.
The St.Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department can be contacted for the full listing of eligible school supplies and any added concerns that individuals may have. The contact number is 1-869-466-7227.
Also in preparation for the upcoming school term, parents or legal guardians who may need assistance with uniforms for their children are invited to apply for the Schools Uniform Assistance Programme. Qualified students at the public Primary and Secondary Schools, as well as the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College and Advanced Vocation Education Centre are expected to benefit from the Programme.
Applications can be done between the hours of 8:30 a.m to 3:30 p. m on Mondays to Fridays at the community centres in Newtown, McKnight, Old Road, St. Paul’s Tabernacle, Ottley’s or Lodge. Persons may also apply at the Social Development Administrative Office at Victoria Road or at the main Office situated on the second floor of the Antioch Baptist Church at Lime Kiln Commercial Development.
Any person engaging in the application process should have pay slips, utility bills, correct uniform sizes, and if applying for the first time, a birth certificate for the child.
The application for the Schools Uniform Assistance Programme closes on August 31, 2023 for Primary and Secondary Schools whilst the deadline for CFBC and AVEC is September 29 2023.
