SKNLP to hold freedom march in protest of the current Harris led Cabinet

by Kevon Browne

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Earlier this week the Leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, Dr. Terrance Drew, called on Prime Minister the Hon Dr. Timothy Harris to remove the COVID-19 restrictions still in place on St. Kitts and Nevis.

The party leader suggests that despite our vaccination coverage and the decision to live with COVID-19, the reason behind the restriction still being in place is to limit the number of people that would be able to come back to the Federation to cast their vote in the coming days when the election date is set.

Dr. Drew said that the SKNLP has had enough and urged the community to stand against Prime Minister Harris in a freedom march on Friday (June 24) from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m starting from the Greenland Pasture.

“The St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party is saying enough is enough. We have had enough, all of us, and therefore we are inviting all citizens, all patriots, to join us in a freedom march on Friday, June 24, 2022,” said the SKNLP leader during a June 22 press conference.

Prime Minister Harris and his Cabinet of three elected officials and three appointed officials have come under fire since the termination of six Cabinet Ministers and the reshuffling of portfolios.

Former Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the People’s Action Movement Shawn Richards has recently taken aim at the new prison being built in Estridge, and the Premier of Nevis, the Hon Mark Brantley, has taken to his Facebook to criticise the decisions being made by the Cabinet during this 90-day window before the next General Election.

In calling for people to join the freedom march, Dr. Drew likened Dr. Harris and the current construct of the government as rogue, dictatorial, and a failure.

“Join us in protest against the dictatorial actions of a rouge failed Prime Minister. Join us as we demand that the Prime Minister stop holding up the entire country because he cannot get his party ready for a General Election. We ask that the date of the election be set, and we ask for Pharoh to let our people go,” concluded Dr Drew.
