St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC) has announced two additional competitions as part of Sugar Mas 50 activities.
For the second year, the SKNNCC is organizing the Sugarcope Photography Competition and a Creative Arts Contest.
According to a press release from the committee, the events are intended to provide an opportunity for those in the creative arts to gain more recognition for their skills, while also adding their innovative flavours to the annual carnival celebrations.
The Creative Arts Contest under the theme, “Culture, Mas & History at 50!” is a virtual opportunity for school children in the federation between 6-17 years old and gives them a platform to gain exposure and recognition for their diverse talents.
The winners will receive cash prizes; first place EC$1,500, second $1,000 and third $600.
The other competition, the Sugarscope Photography Contest, is open to all photographers who can capture, through the lenses of their cameras, the depiction of a national spectacle that includes some element of Sugar Mas.
All images must have been captured within the last six months and must be original and unpublished pieces.
The winner of the contest will receive E$2,500; second $1,500 and third $1,000
Interested parties, for both the Creative Arts Competition and the Sugarscope Photography Contest, are asked to make submissions no later than Friday, November 19, via info@skncarnival.com.
