St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Cromwell Henry shared developments about the traffic accident that occurred on March 5, 2023, at the South East Peninsula.
“In terms of the accident where the visitor lost her leg at the South East Peninsular a few weeks ago, the visitors, both the young lady and her husband, have since left the Federation for Medical attention in Miami. The driver of the vehicle, he has been arrested and formally charged for dangerous driving, and this matter is pending a court hearing,” said Henry at the Police Press Conference on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
The accident involved motor car PA 1499, owned by Adrian Tuckett of St. Peters but was driven by Makevon Williams of Wades Garden and a scooter R106 owned by Sunny Blue Scooter Rental which was driven by Marko Zitek from Slovenia. Zitek’s wife, Stasa Mista, was the pillion rider.
Investigations revealed that Williams lost control of the car and collided with the scooter. Mista’s right leg was severed during the accident.
Both visitors were transported to the Joseph N France General Hospital via ambulance. Zitek received minor injuries and was discharged, while Mista was warded at the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition.
The couple was on tour to St. Kitts on a cruise vessel Celebrity Silhouette.
