St.Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Department of Health and Gender Affairs, Nevis in collaboration with the Department of Gender Affairs and the Boys Mentorship Programme in St.Kitts celebrate International Mentorship Day for the first time.
Mr. Mario Phillip, Gender Affairs Officer on the island of Nevis acknowledged the work being done in the Federation with the Boys Mentorship Programme and extended an invitation for others to join the movement.
He said, “this movement has been going strong in our Federation, particularly on the island of St.Kitts in particular, since 2016; so for quite some years now; and over those years, it has fostered integrity, hope and also ensured that the boys in the mentorship programme have been able to achieve heights that they never thought of otherwise and so we are happy to be celebrating International Mentorship Day.
Phillip stated further, “Now of note, is the fact that, on Nevis, in Men’s Month of 2021, so that’s last November, we would have launched our Boys Mentorship Programme on this side of the Federation and so we are excited about that and now we are celebrating International Mentorship Day. We want to of course let everyone know that you too can join the Mentorship Programme. It is very important for our young men to have someone to look up to and be able to walk in the footsteps of those who would have chartered the path before them.”
International Mentorship Day is celebrated annually around the world on January 17, to draw attention to the mentorship movement and also to ensure that the public understands the importance of mentorship.
