St. Kitts and Nevis: COVID-19 death toll rises to five

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): A fifth person has succumbed to illness caused by the coronavirus disease in St. Kitts and Nevis, bringing the COVID-19 death toll to five. 

The COVID-19 Situation Report issued Thursday night (Sep. 02) confirmed the fifth COVID-19 related death. 

The age, gender, and vaccination status of the fifth death were not released by health officials. 

The fourth COVID-19 fatality was reported September 01 by Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hazel Laws after she revealed that a 59-year-old individual was found dead at their home. She said the police had launched an investigation and requested an autopsy which later classified the death as COVID-19 related. 

As of September 02, 2021, a total of 1,166 people contracted COVID-19 with 990 on St. Kitts and 176 for the island of Nevis. To date, 659 people recovered and 502 remain active.
