St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Miss Shafeyah Guishard, the reigning St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Queen, departed St. Kitts on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, a few days ahead of the Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen Pageant in Antigua.
Guishard is expected to compete against representatives from Antigua and Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Haiti, Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the United States Virgin Islands.
JCI Antigua hosted an Orientation and Sashing Ceremony for the delegates on July 27, 2023. Guishard selected position Number 6.
Speaking to Ercil Charles of ABS, Guishard said representing the Federation is a big responsibility which puts her under a bit of pressure. However, she intends to do the best that she can on show night.
Guishard hinted that she would use the pageant platform to bring awareness to people about ‘Mental Illness’.
“Having battled with depression, anxiety and eating disorder, Shafeyah has had a front-row view of the negative effects of Mental illness, the primary reason for her wanting to become a voice for the voiceless. She vows to be an advocate and bring awareness of mental health issues to all.”
Following her appearance at the Miss Jaycees Pageant on July 31, Guishard will grace the stage at the Nevis Cultural Complex on August 07 for the Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant. There, she will compete against Miss Nevis, Miss Dominica, Miss Trinidad and Tobago, Ms St. Thomas, Miss St. Croix, Miss Guyana, Miss St. Maarten and Miss St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
