St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The St Kitts Met Office is closely monitoring two areas of disturbance.

Elmo Burke, Senior Met Officer at the Meteorology Department said, “the first one is forecast to head towards the southern islands including Trinidad and Tobago. The second system is expected to approach  the northern islands including us in the Leeward Islands, later this week.”

Burke added that it is too early to say the exact path that the second system will take and how it may affect livelihoods. However, Burke assured that additional information will be forthcoming as the system continues to approach the island chain. Individuals are urged to pay attention to information shared by the competent authorities.

The Hurricane Season in the Tropics is June 1 to November 30. With this in mind, individuals and families are being urged to have their Disaster Preparedness and Evacuation Plans ready, have appropriate water catchment systems set up, and stock up on first aid supplies, food and other important necessities.
