St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Three cruise ships docked including the inaugural call of the Aida Perla on Tuesday.

At the welcome ceremony, Honourable Lindsay Grant and Honourable Shawn Richards presented a plaque to cruise ship representatives. The Honourable Grant said it was a pleasure and an honour to welcome Captain Becker, his crew and passengers 1,666 on the Aida Perla to St. Kitts. Mr. Grant said, “We work and continue to work with the COVID-19 Task Force and Ministry of Health, and have been working hard to strike the delicate balance between lives and livelihood”.

The cruise ship is operating at just under fifty percent capacity but has created 86 jobs in the federation for independent taxi and tour operators and increased the offerings to independent operators who sell their tours online, said Honourable Grant. This gives visitors more options to explore St. Kitts and Nevis.

The audience applauded Honourable Richards, who said this is the first day that three cruise ships have been in St. Kitts since March 2020. “This is a momentous occasion for the entire country because it reflects the continued confidence that our cruise line partner has in this beautiful federation”.
