It took 81 minutes for defending SKNFA Premier League champions S.L. Horsfords St. Paul’s United F.C. to score their first goal of the season against newly promoted TGE Dieppe Bay Eagles in the SKNFA Premier League on Saturday at the Warner Park. St. Paul’s defeated their neighbors 2-0 but Dieppe Bay, who are in the Premier League for only the second time, after a flirt with the top flight in 2017/2018 season, defended resolutely most of match and kept the firepower of the league’s top scorer and MVP from last season Keithroy Freeman at bay. But Freeman would not be denied as he scored the second goal of the match in the 90th minute, doubling the lead from the first goal by Petrez Williams in the 81st minute.

Saturday’s match was the first for new St. Paul’s striker Vinceroy Nelson, who transferred from Flow 4G Cayon Rockets. He was among the top three strikers in the league last season and has added to the firepower of the St. Paul’s. F.C. Also on Saturday Rams Village Superstars and Flow 4G Cayon Rockets drew 0-0. Despite their best efforts, both teams lack the explosive grit needed to notch goals and created very few goal scoring opportunities. It also reflects the loss of some of their stalwart players from both teams. Village lost the attacking prowess of the Hanley brothers of Tiran and Tahir Hanley—the latter has taken up a professional football contract in Honduras and the other returned to his boyhood club Garden Hotspurs. For Cayon, among their departures is the loss of their star striker Vinceroy Nelson who now plies his trade with Premier League champions St. Paul’s United.
