St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Sugar Mas 49 officially opened on Friday, December 11 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic with mostly virtual events to facilitate protocols. The opening featured reigning pageant kings and queens, folklore troupes and performances by Socrates, Mr. Mention, Infamus, and more.
Shannon Hawley, Chair of the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Committee on the December 14 broadcast of Island Tea, said the virtual opening boasted a 30,000 person viewership.
Following the opening, in a two night virtual event, the Sugar Mas 49 Senior Calypso Quarter-Finals were held on December 12 and 13.
Out of the 19 quarter-finalists, the 15 Finalists for the Sugar Mas 49 Senior Calypso are:

And those 15 finalists will be up against King Socrates on Tuesday, December 29.
