St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services responded to a structural fire at Big North Bar and Grill in Pond’s Pasture, Basseterre on Monday, January 20 at about 4:00 am.
The Big North Bar and Grill owned by a Police Constable, Mr. Amour Ritchen, has allegedly been exposed to arson about four times.
The bar which was constructed of wood was partially burnt in its interior.
The Basseterre Fire Unit extinguished the fire and the scene was processed thereafter by the Crime Scene Unit of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force. According to a police source, the Crime Scene Officer took a black cloth and a white jug from the scene for further analysis.
Reports revealed that the black cloth was tied along the wooden structure and the white jug which smelled like gasoline was seen between a table and the partition of the bar, but the owner denied the prior presence of those items.
It was noted that Ritchen closed the business at about 10:30 on Sunday night, February 19, but was informed that the bar was burnt just before daybreak on Monday by the Fire Department.
Meanwhile, the management of Big North Bar and Grill is soliciting assistance from the general public in its rebuilding efforts. Persons who have 2×4 form ply or black paint and are willing to donate can make arrangements for collection at 869-668- 6110.
