St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN) – The compound that housed the Estridge Primary School will soon house another campus for the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School, which has outgrown its initial capacity of 50 students, said Dr Geoffrey Hanley- Minister of Education, during the St. Kitts -Nevis Labour Party Townhall meeting on August 01- 2023.
Hanley stated, “What is going to happen where the Estridge Primary School is, that is going to house our second campus for the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive students. When that building was built, it was built to accommodate 50 students. We have way over 150 now, so those students, some go in the morning, and some go in the afternoon. So we’re trying to fix that, and they’re going to be over at Estridge. While they’re over there, after a while, that is going to be transformed into the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive compound, along with our Autism or our Spectrum Center. “
The build-out of the new Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School campus is a gift courtesy of the Government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) as part of the 40th Independence Anniversary of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Meanwhile, in the new academic year 2023- 2024, the Estridge Primary School and the Edgar T Morris Primary School will merge and carry a brand new identity.
“The Edgar T Morris School will be a new primary school because, if you were following the Edgar T Morris and the Estridge Primary School, we merged them. That is official in September, and they already have their design for their uniform, their crest, everything they did; and I am super proud of that.”
The Edgar T Morris Primary School will continue to cater to students residing in Tabernacle and nearby communities.
