Three Bills slated to receive first and second readings at next National Assembly sitting

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Three Bills will be moved in the first sitting of the National Assembly, on October 27, following the opening of the new parliamentary session.

Prime Minister and Minister responsible for Finance, National Security, Citizenship and Immigration, Health and Social Security, Hon. D. Terrance Drew, will introduce and have read a first and second time the Public Health (Amendment) Bill, 2022.

There will be two amendments to the Public Health Act, Cap. 9.21. which include the addition of new definitions and the insertion of a new section; section 28, which according to the act, states;

“(1) The Minister shall provide for the proper suppression of transmission, prevention and control of COVID-19 by the exercise of his or her powers under this Act.

(2) The COVID-19 (Prevention and Control) Act as amended by Act No. 4 of 2021 and all subsidiary legislation made under that Act are hereby repealed.”

The Rt. Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Economic Development and Investment, Dr Denzil Douglas, will introduce and have read a first and second time the St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2022.

The Bill would amend section 2 of the St Kitts Investment Promotion Agency Act, Cap. 20.26. by replacing the definition of the expression “Minister” with a new definition “Minister means the Minister responsible for Investment.”

Hon. Marsha Henderson, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, International Transport, Employment and Labour, and Urban Development, will introduce and have read a first and second time the Civil Aviation (Amendment) Bill, 2022.

The Bill would make 17 amendments and three repeals to the Civil Aviation Act, Cap. 8.03.

The National Assembly will be held on October 27 and carried live on WINN FM 98.9 and our Youtube and Facebook pages.
