Tropical Storm Beryl Expected to Strengthen into a Hurricane

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN)—Tropical Storm Beryl is expected to strengthen into a hurricane as it approaches the Barlovento Islands on Sunday evening (June 30) or Monday (July 01). The storm may bring heavy rain, hurricane-force winds, and dangerous storm surges.

The National Hurricane Center has issued a Hurricane Watch for Barbados. Additional hurricane watches and possible tropical storm warnings for parts of the Barlovento Islands and the South Leeward Islands will likely be announced later today.

Central and Western Caribbean on Alert

Authorities advise all interests in the Central and Western Caribbean to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Beryl. Due to uncertainty in the forecast for days 4 and 5, residents should not focus solely on specific details of the storm’s projected path or intensity.

Preparations and Precautions

Residents in the affected areas should:
