(Trinidad Express) – Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi ensured that India honoured and delivered on its commitments to Trinidad and Tobago, redounding to the benefit of the people of this country.

The Prime Minister delivered a statement in Parliament yesterday as she welcomed India’s Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and his delegation, who are on a two-day official visit to Trinidad and Tobago.
Modi, Jaishankar and their delegation visited Trinidad and Tobago in July 2025, during which several Memoranda of Understanding were signed.
Persad-Bissessar said she was heartened to announce that India has honoured and delivered on its commitments to Trinidad and Tobago.
She noted that Modi pledged to donate 2,000 laptops in support of the Government’s secondary school laptop programme and that the devices have arrived and will officially be handed over across all seven educational districts.
Persad-Bissessar said more than 800 citizens benefited from the prosthetic limb initiative supported by the government of India in 2025.
