St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The TDC Senior Kaiso Eliminations was held on Sunday night July 09 2023 at Mem’s Pizzeria in Nevis, coming one step closer to the final roster of Calypsonians who will compete on Friday, August 04 for the title of Culturama 49 Senior Kaiso Monarch.
Of the 16 Calypsonians that performed, four were eliminated and 12 moved on to the semi-finals.
The semi-finalists include:
12 time crowned Calypso Monarch Keith ‘King Dis and Dat’ Scarborough who amassed a total of 241 points
Bernett ‘Nutsy’ Thompson- 217 points
Nathalie ‘Empress Lyric’ Charles- 216 points
Seth ‘De Undertaker’ Williams- 215 points
Andrew ‘King Hollywood’ Nisbett- 214 points
Teron ‘Invincible’ Webbe- 213 points
Andrew ‘Murray’ Hendrickson- 194 points
Junior ‘Bad Man Polo’ Newton- 194 points
Venetia ‘Lady Composer’ Clarke- 183 points
Alfred ‘Baker’ Newton- 180 points
Shomari ‘Sookie’ Mitchell- 177 points
Akedo Nisbett- 177 points
Following the semi-final event on July 23, seven calypsonians will be selected to compete against the defending Calypso Monarch Oscar ‘King Astro’ Browne at the Nevis Cultural Complex.
The four calypsonians that were eliminated from the competition are West Side, Puppa Wheeler, Sabu and Lady Cavalier.
The backup vocalists for the 2023 Kaiso competition are Deslyn Williams-Johnson, Denesia Smithen, Eleisel Ramirez and Devonne Cornelius.
