Twelve Days Later Contact Tracing Continues – Vaccine Expiration 4 Weeks Away

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN) – St. Kitts and Nevis has 21 active cases.

Over the weekend one additional case was recorded on Sunday, May 30 bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 69.

Case #69 is a national of St. Kitts and Nevis and according to the health officials was linked to previous cases associated with the current cluster being contained. The individual is in isolation.

When viewing the statistics provided by the officials the cluster has not reached Nevis as yet.

Cases recorded in Nevis stand at 14 and have been at that number since the announcement of #14 on March 17. St. Kitts stands at 55 cases; 48 cases have fully recovered; the Federation has recorded no deaths from COVID-19 complications.

The 21 active cases are stable.

Concerning the vaccines administered this weekend…

On Saturday, May 29, 26,644 doses were administered 7,313 of which were second doses. St. Kitts has administered 20,160 in total while on Nevis 6,484 doses found their way into arms.

According to the dose count, St. Kitts and Nevis secured (41,600) and with every first dose having a pairing there are 1,469 first doses and 13,487-second doses left to be administered.

Will the health official entertain one dose administration to avoid vaccine waste as we are in the final four weeks before the vaccines are set to expire?
