  • Kuwait says Iranian drone and missile strikes that hit a terminal at its international airport killed one person and wounded dozens of others after inflicting “significant material damage”.
  • Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says retaliatory strikes “should serve as a lesson” for the United States after it fired a barrage of missiles and drones at Kuwait and Bahrain.

Saudi Arabia condemns Iranian attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait

Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned what it called “the flagrant Iranian aggression and blatant violation of the sovereignty” of Bahrain and Kuwait, including the targeting of Kuwait International Airport.

The country’s foreign ministry says in a statement posted on X that “The Kingdom reiterates that these violations undermine international efforts to restore security and stability in the region”.

“The Kingdom reaffirms its solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait and its full support for all measures they take to preserve their sovereignty, security, and stability,” the statement adds.

Oman condemns attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain

Oman has condemned the recent attacks on its Gulf neighbours as a violation of international law and a threat to civilians.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed “full solidarity” with Bahrain and Kuwait and support for the measures the two countries are taking “to preserve their security and stability”.

“The Sultanate of Oman renews its call for restraint and avoiding escalation, and resorting to dialogue and diplomatic means to address crises and disputes,” it said.

Thirteen ballistic missiles were fired on Kuwait from Iran, and 17 drones were used. These numbers are similar to what we saw in the early days of the war in February, so that’s certainly going to be of serious concern, not just in Kuwait, but for all of the GCC.

The attack on the airport is significant: It’s a guarantee that every GCC country – all of the airports and airlines that operate out of here – will be looking at this and watching the next 24 hours very closely.
